Menomonee Falls Masters (Adult) Swim Club
Attention Prospective Menomonee Falls Masters Swimmers:
We are offering instructed masters (adult) swim at varying times on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (typically 5:45-7:00) as well as certain Saturday's; please check the training schedule for MFSC on the calendar section of this website for exact times each week. The swim program is instructed/coached by one of our regular coaching staff (who may instruct/coach either while in or out of the pool).
This is not an open swim program where the lanes are open to any member to swim laps at will. It is instead, a structured program with a scheduled workout tailored to fit the group of masters swimmers. The program is designed to attract all types of individuals – whether you just want a good workout to recapture/maintain your health, compete at a masters swim level, or improve your swimming for triathlons.
All masters swimmers will need to be registered with Wisconsin Masters Swimming (WMAC) and United States Masters Swimming (USMS) in the same way that our age group program is registered with United States Swimming. You can find out more information regarding registration at the United States Masters Swimming (USMS) website: http://www.usms.org
Wisconsin Masters Aquatic Club (WMAC) is the team all current masters swimmers in Wisconsin compete for. WMAC offer monthly swim meets for all of those interested in competing. For more information about meets, please see WMAC’s website: http://www.swim-wimasters.org/
Please do not feel intimidated by the fact that this is a structured program because, in my experience, a masters swim program designed in the fashion I have outlined above will cater to everyone’s needs. An average practice might look like the following:
Sample Workout:
4 x 100 Free @ your training interval Rest: 30sec 4 x 100 Free @ your training interval (Sets are smaller for newer masters swimmers)
Practices range from 2000-4500 yards per practice depending on ability and current fitness and training needs. The only equipment required is caps, goggles, suits and fins (optional). We will use fins at most practices. Boards and pull-buoys are supplied by the club for use on a daily basis. Specialized equipment like paddles and other swim aids are welcome for use but need to be supplied by the individual swimmer.
